Welcome to Ohoka Park Racing Stables

Ohoka Park is the home of Paul and Leigh Kerr Racing Stables. Situated in the lovely, tranquil area of Ohoka, North Canterbury, just 20 minutes from central Christchurch and 10 minutes to Rangiora.

Our property was developed in 2008 and has excellent facilities for your horse. On the property we have new, well appointed stables as well as big post and rail paddocks for the horses to be grazed during the day.
We have two excellent tracks, one 860 metre all weather track and a sand jog track. As a training variance we can train on the local beaches, using our own truck for transport. This enables us to be independant as well as a cheaper option for our clients
Our aim is to concentrate on a smaller, quality team rather than quantity. By doing this we are able to give each horse the individual attention they deserve.

We believe good staff are the essence of a successful stable, at Ohoka Park we offer keen and dedicated workers. The principal staff are Paul Kerr (trainer) and Mitchell Kerr (driver), a father and son team.

Paul has been training for 23 years, during this period there have been a number of successful horses that have been produced from his stable. Cup class mares include: Pay Me Back, Chloe Hanover, Nick Off Holme and Australian mile record holder Pay Me Christian just to name a few.

In total Paul has trained the winners of 28 race group races, 3 of these being group 1 winners. Paul has an excellent reputation of being a trainer that develops young horses. When they step out onto the race track they are always ready to perform.
An early honest opinion of a horse is what Paul prides himself in being able to report to his owners. The majority of his owners have been with him for a long period of time.

Mitchell has been a noticeable identity around the stables since he was 3 years old (escaping his mother's care), showing exactly where the owner's horses were in the stables and naming them! He was destined to be the driver of the stable that he is today.
Mitchell gained his licence in December 2008 and to date has driven 18 winners in his first 6 months of driving which is a great achievement. He has the support of the stable owners, most of them have followed him through childhood and all of whom are keen to see him succeed.

Paul is supported by his owners and wife, Leigh, who cheers in the background, enjoying race days, and his eldest son Ryan.
